I don’t understand it.
I have now packed and shipped everything that was ready to be packed and shipped. I have less than a dozen orders ready to dye tomorrow and Sunday. Nothing on the orders is previously dyed and waiting in the bins (I discovered a few orders of that nature already, and got them [...]

Okay… so y’all know I like to do custom dye jobs. And “usually” I can get pretty close to what people are hoping for. At least, that’s the general feedback I get. Maybe y’all are just being polite.
But every now and again a customer asks for something specific…. like Nancy did. Her boys are fans [...]

I haven’t even scared away all the neighborhood kids for Halloween yet, why the heck are you people blathering on and on and blasting away with the Christmas tunes already???
hehehehehe… yeah, I’m a crochety old fart, I suppose. I don’t do Halloween any more, and haven’t for many years. I think the entire whole time [...]

I posted the Free Sock Yarn Mitten pattern over on the Socks-Lace page. All you have to do is order one (or more) skeins of hand-dyed sock yarn and you will automatically be mailed the Sock Yarn Mitten pattern.
The day was wet with rain. ALL FRIGGIN’ DAY! What’s up with that? How rude, [...]

Here’s the current picture of the fun hat; I finished that 2nd row late last night so I could spread it out wide and show off the angles.
I really REALLY do like this. And you can see, over there on the left edge, that it has an outward ripple. Directly opposite, on the right, is [...]

I LOVE how this is turning out so far….
I’m using Down Home Art Yarn worsted weight — this particular colorway isn’t one of the regulars, but it shows off how to use virtually any variegated yarn in a way that does not look like the normal variegated handwork.
The trick part is that is it absolutely [...]

No special embellishments, and I did a crochet cast-off to match the crocheted cast-on. I didn’t realize how fiddly it would be to do the crocheted cast-off. In order to match it match the cast-on, it has to be done with the work left on the needles. It looks fine and came out alright, just [...]

A body in rebellion tends to stay in rebellion. pheh.
I’m not feeling well this week. Saggy, dragging, and a LOT of pain in my lower parts — particularly my right hip and both knees are really hurty today. I have yarns soaking for dyeing, and want to be done with them all by Saturday, but [...]

Okay, here’s the Comfort Wrap as it now sit — 2 balls into it, 1 ball left to go.
It’s approximately 4 feet long right now. I’m debating whether to crochet up the sides for less rolling, but I dunno….
What I DO know, however, is that I really really like how a variegated yarn comes up [...]

I have!
My daughter asked me to make her a pumpkin to hold candies on her desk for Halloween.
So I took some Biagio (85% wool / 15% mohair) in the Autumn Harvest color
and knitting this;
and then felted it down to look like this:
I started at the top, with a crocheted cast-on in yellow kitchen cotton. Then [...]

Y’member last week, Lisa was wanting ugly yarn? And several of you put forth some ideas.
Well, I pulled out a hank of Clown Barf (eleventy-seven colors of fiber scraps, all spun together, along with some multi-colored novelty filaments), and poured all the darkest of my leftover dyes, with some black mixed into yellow, and a [...]

Just as I got the pictures taken, a big thunderstorm decided to pass over, so I had to shut down until it moved over. I don’t like running the computer in a storm.
Anyway, here’s another bundle of Blog Reader Specials!
As per the regular fine print and details (please click and read to be sure you [...]

This past week we were up in the 80s and 90s. Today it is struggling just to stay in the 60s. A cold front moved through on Friday, and supposedly will be pushing back north on Monday or Tuesday as a warm front. Meanwhile it is disgustingly gray, dreary, drizzly. <*blech*>
Part of the problem with [...]

Long, long ago, back in the dark ages, I was working on a tutorial for making socks (which never got finished). Y’all know I’m really big on color-coding stuff, right?
Well, today I was trying to find out what I used to charge for sock yarns (I “think” it was either $15.95 or $17.95), but I [...]

I am seriously in need of a tune-up or something. Y’member the Comfort Wrap I showed the other day? Well, I tripled its length today, on the knitting machine, so it’s nearly 2 feet long. I did it while listening to some bluegrass CDs… and singing along … and knitting … and singing … and [...]

Shhhh! I just changed the prices on the Socks and Dura-Lace — they’re all marked $2.00 OFF!
I ordered a little too much yarn and have not enough money, so I have to move a little bit of the excess… quickly.

Okay, so I’m happy with the Comfort Wrap. This is being done with Down Home Art Yarns Superwash Sport weight, dyed (by request) in “Chocolate Covered Cherries”. I have it folded up onto the machine so you can see what will be the ‘front’ side.
I thoroughly enjoy how it is creating a warbling pattern.
Isn’t [...]
