It’s HERE! It’s HERE!

I’m racing against tornado producing weather, can’t talk long, but this is on the front page:

The New Knitivity “Dura-Lace” is now available! This is a custom-designed lace weight yarn currenly available ONLY through Knitivity. It is 75% washable wool/25% nylon, created specifically to allow knitters to create their fine lace handwork without fearing for its care — like your washable sock yarns, you can put your lovely shawls and wraps into the washing machine! I’d recommend a mesh washing bag to avoid snags, but the yarn should be fine because it is designed for easy-care.

Based on the mill’s production, I have to announce that this is a LIMITED PRODUCTION THIS YEAR. Based on market testing (exclusively through Knitivity), the mill may expand the production line to include color color dyes next year.

Coming in at approximately 920 yards per four-ounce hank (or 3680 yards for the full pound undyed cone!), there will be ample yardage for nearly any project you could imagine.

When I talked with the mill this afternoon, Kathy said Jane told her they have just 200 pounds of fibers already spun, justing waiting to be twisted.   Because they have to re-calibrate the machinery for twisting this product, Jane said it could take a couple weeks to fill an order from the time I submit it so some patience will be required.   I’m hoping to put in a large order on Monday, so that once they get going there will be enough for a while — clearly that cannot (and I wouldn’t expect them to) stop production just to whip out a couple pounds just for me, because this isn’t one of their main production items.    If we can show that there is a demand for this product they may add this to their regular line-up for next year’s production.

Anyway, once the weather passes this evening I’ll be able to put out the formal email to the Knitivity list tonight or tomorrow, and Saturday I will post to the other sales list (after I mark the prices back up to normal of course!  I’ve lowered prices just for you guys, so be sure to tell your lace-loving friends to sneak a peek while the prices are down a little bit.  Just make sure they know it might l take a little longer than my normal 7-21 day production window.

Crap, I can’t see the fence 3 feet from my window… rain is pouring down.  Gotta go.    Love ya!
