The Stocking Grows!

But first……

I woke this morning and prepared to put the rattan screen across the open back door.   And I discovered I had a visitor:

I opened the door, set the screen in the open and tapped it to knock the little visitor off into the yard.   And THEN I discovered he was not alone!  there were actually THREE little visitors just hanging around  over night on my screen… inside.  EEK!

I was tempted to ask which one offers the best insurance, but thought better of it.

Anyway, here’s the status of the 2009 Stashbuster Holiday Stocking:

Notice on the last band (the one above the heel) I started with solid bit of blue, then checkerboarded, and then ended with solid orange.   This is a useful way to create visual interest so it isn’t necessarily clear which is “background” and which is “foreground”   :-)

And here are a couple more charts for you to play with:

I should add that on the 2nd chart, lines 1, 9,  11, and 19 … where there is only 1 black and 9 whites (”black” and “white” refer to whichever two colors you decided to use).    I would personally just slip the stitch directly below, and just knit with the ‘white’ color all around.   That might skew the work just a smidge, but it’s better (IMO) than stranding the ‘black’ color along 9 other stitches.

And it just now occurs to me that I should have reversed the numbering on the charts… numbering stitches right to left, and numbering rows bottom to top.   Sorry about that.   I will assume knitters would have known this, but in the future I will reverse the numbering.  :-)

Now, the deal is that EVERY order of $50 or more during November is entered into the drawing to receive MY version of this stocking; i.e., the winner will get the stocking that you are watching me knit.    So far, since announching that drawing, not a single order has come in.   So I’m going to guess that everyone is waiting for tomorrow’s pictures to show off the new November colorways.    That’s cool.    I’ll just tell the landlord it will be a few more days.  <*gulp*>

And tomorrow, while the new colorways are drying, I’m going to be compiling all the remainders of past Blog Reader Specials.   Gotta empty these bins.    So tomorrow night there will be plenty of stuff to look at, new and old.   And it will be priced to sell.   m’kay?

Anolis carolinensis indoors means a frost is on the way. They are looking for a place to hibernate. I love me little lizards, I do.
