Okay, so I showed (in the previous post) a tiny image of the chart I was going to follow.   Once I got the rhythm of the lower rows down, I kept at it.  It is not doing what I wanted, not doing what I expected … but I sorta-kinda LIKE it, at this stage.  Note, the scissors tip is only to hold down an obstinate warpy needle cable.  🙂  And at the bottom and sides are JUST garter stitch rows to make a flat non-curling border for testing the stitch pattern.

Because I like where this is heading, I am going to change the rest of the chart and see if I can make it do what I think it will do.   🙂

My original intention was to use this as one band along a triangular shawl, but because of what it is doing now, it may become something quite different.  🙂
