Long, Skinny Hanks
So, before December I put in a big order for new yarns, some of which were a small collection of super-long hanks. I thought these would be AWESOME for making self-striping yarns or something. And, of course, they technically are good for that. But I have no really good dyeing space for these. Check it out:
The one on the right is my normal size hank, 2 yards around, laid out it is about 36 inches long.
The one on the left is a super-long hank. It is almost 9 feet long.
Even if I found a way to dye it, I don’t have the means to properly wind it to a finished hank as i normally would. I would need to use both swifts set at quite a distance apart, most likely doing it outside. It can be done, just not in a way that I like to work.
Most likely I will do that next week (weather pending), just to get it done and over with. But that’s after I figure out how to actually dye these monsters.
