New Challenges!
Awwrighy, then!
Two ‘challenges’: First up, I got some new dyes for some colors that were running out. The old style jars, which they’ve used since I started buying this dye, were in translucent jars. I could hold them up to the light and see roughly how much was left in the jar. The new jars, however, are solid black. The only way to see what’s inside is to open them. And, of course, the print on the label is too small for quick-glance reading, so I will have to create giant print labels for the tops and back-sides of the jars. I’m not happy with the black jars, but I suppose I will have to live with it.
And, the second challenge for me — following up on yesterday’s post, today I received the new motor! Woo-hooo! All clean and pretty! I’ll take more pictures of the process of replacing the old motor with the new one when I get into it tomorrow. For now, I’ll just let it sit and be pretty. 🙂
It is a challenge for me, only in the sense I have never done this before. I have replaced the magnetic digital counter on the skein winder, and I have made minor repairs on other things in my lifetime. And in 7th grade I had to take Electric Shop in the Industrial Arts section, so I learn how to strip the insulation off a wire and prepare the contacts and so forth. I may have to make a trip to the parts store and get some electrical tape, in case I need to wrap open connections. We will see.
And, just so you know — yes, I DO know that everything has to be turned off and unplugged before I do ANYthing with this project. 🙂 (See? I’m sorta kinda smart, huh?)
I know it isn’t easy with powdered dyes, but could you carefully transfer the new dye into the old container? I’d prefer the translucent containers as well. Way easier to tell what you have left
I may end up doing that. 🙂
