Surprise!! I got different yarns!
I was struggling this week to sell enough yarns so that I could order my regular supply by Wednesday, so they would ship it and I would get it Friday for this weekend’s regular dyeing. That didn’t happen and I had to put in a slightly shorter order than normal on Thursday (turned out my supplier was switching websites on Wednesday so I couldn’t have ordered as normal anyway). So I got a short order in on Thursday, and if they shipped it, I’ll get it Monday or Tuesday.
Last Sunday, I got a shipping notice that a fellow dyer was sending a surprise box of ‘something’, and didn’t tell me what it was. It arrived on Wednesday evening. Turns out it was some yarns that another dyer had left over after shutting down their business, so my friend was sharing the bounty. And it was shipped before I realized I wouldn’t get my regular order in, so it was definitely a surprise.
I don’t recall dyeing 100% silk before, so I wasn’t sure about this, but I’ve dyed various combinations of Merino/Silk, and I knew it could be done with my regular processes. I had hoped to do some sundyeing with it, but the sun didn’t want to come out and play so I didn’t.
Most of these were dyed as solid or nearly solid. Silk is a lovely yarn that presents well in textured knits, so I didn’t want to detract from the stitching by mixing too many colors on most of them. I did mix a few of them, mostly with subtle results, but #512 and 514 have noticeably multiple colors (#514 is my favorite of the whole bunch!). #509 was the palest aqua I could manage and it ended up with a minor stain.
And #524 is a mix of pale sky blue and pale gold ochre.
These should all be ready to ship on or before Tuesday. The Merino/Silk laceweight is $30.00 each, and the others are $28.00 each.
To claim the ones you want just send me an email with your numbered requests.
