SW Merino in Worsted and DK
Well, whattaya know! I was planning to do some more Phydlbitz II this weekend, but discovered I could instead make a split collection of Superwash Merino in both worsted wt. and DK. And this being the heat of the summer seems a really good time to start lining up your autumn, winter, and holiday gift projects — all those quick-knit hats, scarves, gloves, etc., in truly one-of-a-kind hand-dyed yarns. It sure beats scrambling to make last-minute gifts in December 🙂
Anyway, I have 16 SW Merino worsted wt. (#702-717) and 16 in SW Merino DK (#718 -7 33).
There is one dye I really really dislike and I rarely use it — Ecru. It is a dye powder blended by the manufacturer, made of dye molecules of several different primary colors. In the past, no matter how I prepare it, ecru always seemed to leave visible flecks of the red or blue that were used by the manufacturer. That’s why I rarely use it. I thought I prepared it right this time, and came up with a near-perfect solid Ecru Twinset. And then I saw it — the dreaded blue blob in one very visible spot across several strands. That just would not do. So I did some hand-print blobs of a sky blue and pretended this Twinset was a fancy Oxford dress shirt onto which a fountain pen had leaked. And yes, I sometimes make up stories about my dye jobs. 🙂
I try to get the pictures as true to life as I can, and these look true on my monitor. Twinsets #720-721 and #724-725 are two slightly different shades of a greenish-gray. Twinset #732-733 is a medium gray mixed with a blue. Twinset #728-729 is a turquoise with a bit of gray to darken it. If you want individual pictures of a particular Twinset, please let me know before I reskein them.
Both the SW Merino Worsted wt. and the SW Merino DK will be $27.00 when they reach the Blog Reader Specials page, but for Sunday and Monday you can have any of them for $25.00 each.
To claim the ones you want, just send me an email with your selected numbers. I’ll send a PayPal invoice, and will print your shipping label upon payment to ensure your yarns will ship as soon as they’ve been processed, reskeined, and labeled.
I expect to have this new collection ready to ship on or before Thursday.
Edit: Aug 25 – All the yarns not claimed from the preview racks below have now been posted to the Blog Reader Specials page; click through to see which yarns are available at the time of your visit.
