Confetti Explosion??
What a great dye session yesterday!
I wasn’t sure what the dyes would do when I started, although I did want to try one thing — Beach Glass in the Sand. The “sand” base turned more yellow than I wanted, but Twinset #193-194 is the result. I aimed for small blips of random color that would yield only 2 or 3 stitches of a color as it is knitted up. As it is hanging, of course, you can see larger sections, but when the yarn is knitted, only a few stitches of a color will appear on a row.
Twinset #189-190 is a similar beach sand color, but it has a slightly greenish cast, but none of the flecks of other colors, so it is a pretty solid color.
There were several Twinsets that will definitely look like an explosion of confetti, but deliberately slow. #183-184, 187-188, 191-192, 195-196, and 201-202 were all dyed the same way, each with at least 4 different colors, some with even more randomized sprinkles of color. Any of these will knit up into fantastic socks on their own, or you could create an amazing shawl by taking single skeins of three different Twinsets to knit or crochet a shawl. I saw a picture of an amazing shawl the other day, all crocheted in a very simple half-square triangle in a basic Granny Square stitch in sock yarn on a very small hook (probably Size F).
Twinset #181-182 was done in a manner similar to my multi-color soft-dye technique I’ve used a lot of recently.
If you are into stripes or color-contrast, using the greens of Twinset #185-186 and #197-198 could be interesting. Or you could do 6 or 8 rows with each of these two greens, but with 2 rows of the yellows from either Twinset #189-190 or 203-204 separating the greens for contrast. So many ways these four colors can be used together for a larger-than-socks project, too.
These are all Phydlbitz Sock (75/25 Superwash Corriedale/Nylon, 430 yards each) and are normally $27.50 each, and will be marked that price on the Blog Reader Specials page, but for Sunday and Monday, you may claim any of this week’s collection (BRS23 – #181-204) for just $25.00.
To claim the ones you want, send me an email with your selections. I’ll mark your requests off on the Available Yarns tally chart just below, and send you a PayPal invoice. Upon payment I will pay and print your shipping label so your yarns can ship as soon as this collection is fully processed and ready to go. I expect these to be ready to ship on or about Thursday.
