I Need a Pool!
Happy Sunday!
It continues to be beastly hot here with record breaking temperatures much of August in the Southwest. It’s crazy, and I hope everyone is staying cool, well-hydrated, and healthy. As for me, I had to take frequent breaks yesterday, couldn’t even think about dyeing until evening. It was just after 11:00 p.m. before the 2nd batch of yarns went into the steamer, and well after midnight before the steamer was turned off and cooled down enough I could go to bed safety. Then up at the crack of dawn to wash and rinse the yarns and get them hanging to dry. I just checked the 10-day forecast and it looks like a really good chance for thunderstorms next Monday (not tomorrow) along with slightly cooler temperatures. Until then, however, we’ll be breaking 100 almost every day.
I don’t know about you, but with this heat I get sweaty hands so it is very difficult to handle yarns at all, never mind wanting to sit and knit anything. But, I know that Autumn is coming along with the need for knitting your holiday gifts, so I truly hope this week’s collection will whet your appetite and provide inspiration for those socks and scarves that need to be done before the holidays. 🙂
It turns out I had just enough Phydlbitz Sock to make a complete set for this week. Next week I’ll have to mix Phydlbitz with some 100% Merino sport wt. (330 yards) that I have on hand. It is a discontinued yarn base, so once it is done I can’t get more. But it will still make some interesting yarns toward holiday gifts or something. If you know you’ll want some of this next week, please let me know what color(s) and how many so I can plan ahead for next week’s dye session.
There are several dye techniques this week, including the Not-Purple Twinset #729-730; it’s a blended mix with on of my blues and one of my reds, and I’m glad the colors didn’t separate on these. Twinset #737-739 is just random hand-slaps of dye in a sky blue and a magenta, with plenty of white space all around.
The two apparent solids (Twinsets #747-478 and 751-752) are actually not solid, but both were layer upon layer of several colors. Once knitted, you will definitely see some color variation.
There are several splattered Twinsets in the collection. Twinset #749-759 in particular reminded me of a sparkling clear swimming pool, but that might just be my mind playing tricks on me in this obnoxious heat. 🙂
Anyway, these should all be processed and ready to ship on or about Thursday.
These are all Phydlbitz Sock and are normally $27.50 each, but for Sunday and Monday you can claim any two or more for $25.50 each.
To claim the ones you want, just send me an email (ray@knitivity.com) with your numbered requests. I will mark your requests off from the Available Yarns tally chart below and then send your PayPal invoice.
